Lugazi FC will be aiming to maintain their perfect start to the season when they visit Entebbe UPPC at the Bugonga Fisheries Ground in Entebbe on Wednesday.
The side, coached by Steven Bogere, opened their campaign with an impressive 3-1 victory over league newcomers Calvary FC at Najjembe last week, thanks to goals from Paul Wasswa, Sharif Saaka and Ashraf Mulindi.
Against another newly-promoted side, Lugazi fancy their chances of making it two wins in as many games, but forward Sharif Saaka insists the team is not underestimating their hosts.
“We are very motivated, our target is nothing but three points,” Saaka said.
“We want to build on our win in the first game as we target a good season. We know they are not going to be an easy side, they have good coaches and experienced players, but we have done good preparations and we are hopeful for a better result.
“Winning our first game gives us an upper hand because it comes with confidence and this gives us momentum.”
Lugazi will, however, be cautious heading into this fixture. Unlike Calvary, who are finding their feet in the top flight, Entebbe UPPC come with greater pedigree. The side, formerly known as Gaddafi FC, earned promotion from the FUFA Big League last season.
Coached by Abdallah Mubiru and assisted by Livingstone Mbabazi, with ex-Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi also on the technical team, Entebbe UPPC are keen to bounce back from their opening day 1-0 defeat to Buhimba United Saints.
The Entebbe outfit have strengthened their squad with notable additions including Sam Kintu Tiyo, Bright Vuni, Rogers Omeddwa, Mustafa Mujuzi, Julius Poloto, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Noordin Bunjo and Isa Mubiru.
