SMACK Crowned Clash of the Titans Golf Champions

St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) lived up to their reputation of consistency as they clinched the 2025 Clash of the Titans Golf Tournament (Men’s Category) after the final round at Entebbe Golf Club on Saturday.
The annual event, sponsored by Hima Cement, brought together alumni from Uganda’s leading schools in a colourful contest played over two rounds — the opener at Uganda Golf Club and the decider in Entebbe.
SMACK, who had set the pace with 357 points in the first round, sealed victory with another dominant display in Entebbe, carding 368 points. Their combined tally of 725 points was enough to dethrone defending champions Ntare School.
Captain Paul Habyarimana said the triumph was the product of hard work and better organisation.
“Last year we came close, finishing second, so this time we prepared thoroughly. We had bigger numbers, trained hard, and motivated each other. That made the difference,” Habyarimana said.
“Our dream is to take this game back to schools. Just like there are football leagues, we believe school golf competitions can help the sport grow.”
Ntare School finished second with 709 points, while Namilyango College took third place on 705. Other strong performers included Kigezi High School and King’s College Budo (both on 676), Busoga College Mwiri (661), Nyakasura School (652), Makerere College (627), Jinja College (626) and Namugongo SS (489).
In the women’s category, Bweranyangi Girls SS successfully defended their crown, posting 224 points to win back-to-back titles. Mary Hill High School came second with 209 points.
Hima Cement’s Brand and Communications Manager, Joan Kitawona, hailed the tournament’s impact.
“This tournament has grown so fast and continues to bring people together from across the country. It is more than competition — it is about bonding and celebrating school heritage,” Kitawona said.
“As Hima Cement, we are proud to walk this journey with the organisers and participants.”
