BUL FC assistant coach Simeone Masaba has expressed optimism ahead of their Uganda Premier League clash against Maroons on matchday two at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.
BUL will be targeting their first win of the campaign after being held to a goalless draw by URA at the same venue in their season opener last week.
“It wasn’t the start we wanted but we start and build on that,” Masaba said while reflecting on the stalemate.
“We have prepared very well, we went through what we missed in the URA game, and we have rectified that to see that we get a positive result. I am happy that we at least managed to create chances in that game, so we have been working on how to execute those chances going forward.”
Team news indicates that Thomas Ochungo and Richard Okello will miss out due to injury, while striker Karim Ndugwa remains a doubt despite playing in the first game.
Maroons, meanwhile, are only getting their season underway after their scheduled opener against NEC was postponed due to NEC’s involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Luzira-based side will begin life under new head coach Umar Abdalla Loi, who replaced Muhammad Ssenfuma, now serving as assistant.
The Prison Warders have kept faith in their core squad from last season when they finished eighth with 43 points, despite making minimal moves in the transfer market.
Last season’s fixture at Njeru was decided by a solitary goal from Karim Ndugwa, giving BUL a 1-0 victory over Maroons.
These teams met in the FUFA Super Eight, with BUL winning 3-1 in the return leg after a goalless draw in the first.
Maroons went on to beat KCCA in classification before falling to Express FC to settle for sixth position.
