Uganda’s top justice actors equipped on human rights based approaches to protection of vulnerable groups.

Justice actors including Uganda Polices, Uganda Prisons services, Judiciary, office of the Directorate of Public prosecution, CSOs among others convened for a 5 days training to share experiences, discuss response strategies, and sharpen understanding in protecting the rights of minority groups in Uganda including women, elderly, children, refugees, People with disabilities among others.
The training organized by International Conference of Great Lakes Region (ICGR- RTS) in collaboration with Uganda Police Force highlighted the importance of promoting human rights of the minority groups to enable them access equity, and equality and the various opportunities provided to all Ugandans.
The training held at Collins Hotel Mukono , was officially opened by Justice Mike Kibita of the supreme court called for enhanced human rights protection among all Ugandans.

During the training Dr. Kamya John, the Senior as commander of Police and Head of Curriculum and Doctrine at Uganda Police Force said applauded the police officers and other justice players for attending the trainings highlighling the key role training have played in improving the protection of human rights in Uganda.
“Human rights records have improved because of trainings such as this. We hope to improve our network and connection with other players as part of knowledge sharing to better human rivhts protection to vulnerable groups” he said.

Representing the ICGR-RTF boss Jabiel Nirakisha, Hon. Dorah Byabakama while appreciating the support from British High Commission, also applied Uganda Police coordination in the training especially the tour to Mukono Police Station while appealing to the justice players to out into practice action plans from the training.
“Am grateful to OC Mukono Police station for the tour and the lessions learned . I implore you to use your authorities to improve peace sustainably especially during the political campaign period. I hope the expectations of the training were achieved and please let’s start in touch” she said.
She commended the work done by facilitators of the training including Robert Tumusiime, The Training Consultant with ICGR-RTF, who dwelled on the topic of mindset, Dr. John Kamya from Uganda Police, among others.
