Put names 26-man squad for Botswana, Algeria World Cup Qualifiers


Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has on Tuesday morning confirmed a for a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.
Uganda will face Botswana on Thursday, 9th October in Francistown before taking on Algeria on Tuesday, 14th October at Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium.
The squad summoned is composed of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders and nine forwards
Uganda is still in contention for a slot at next year’s World Cup but must ensure they get as many points as they can from this window.
Algeria who top Group G 19 points, four ahead of Uganda need just a win in their last two group games, both coming at home against Somalia and the Cranes.
However, there is a window for the top four ranked teams that will finish in second positions across all the ten groups.
