UCU Canons Level Series with Kampala Rockets

UCU Canons forced a decisive game three in their National Basketball League quarterfinal series after a commanding 79-52 game two victory over Kampala Rockets on Wednesday at Lugogo.

The Canons, who had fallen narrowly 49-50 in Game One, entered the contest under pressure knowing defeat would end their season.

They responded in style, racing to a 28-16 lead in the opening quarter and stretching the gap to 20 points by halftime before sealing the win with little resistance from the Rockets.

Kampala Rockets struggled throughout, turning the ball over 23 times, getting outrebounded 48-43, and shooting just 5-of-22 from beyond the arc.

UCU’s depth proved decisive as their bench contributed 37 points compared to Rockets’ 20.

Joel Kayiira led the way for the Canons with a game-high 16 points, while Pauti Ozias Kikomba managed a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets in a losing effort.

The best-of-three series is now tied 1-1, with the decisive Game Three scheduled for Sunday.
