JT Jaguars Out to Lay Marker Against Stormers

Wednesday, October 1
*Magic Stormers Vs JT Lady Jaguars – 7pm
*JKL Lady Dolphins Vs UCU Lady Canons – 9pm

JT Lady Jaguars and Magic Stormers will clash tonight in Game One of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) semifinals at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The series, played under a best-of-five format, will see the first team to secure three wins advance to the finals.

The semifinals tip off three weeks after the conclusion of the quarterfinals, giving both sides ample time to prepare.

“We didn’t stop working out, it was a big rest yes and our bodies are down but with the work we have been doing I believe we will put up a good show,” said JT Lady Jaguars’ forward Sarah Ageno ahead of the opener.

The Jaguars stormed into the semis after sweeping Miracle Ravens 2-0 in the quarterfinals. They will take confidence from their dominance over the Stormers in the regular season, winning 64-48 in the first leg and 73-63 in the second round.

But the Magic Stormers, guided by coach John Omondi, will not be short of belief after eliminating KCCA Leopards in the quarters.

With the trio of Auma Angella, Daphine Adong and Joy Nekesa Mupalia averaging double figures, the Stormers are expected to pose serious problems for the Jaguars’ defense.

For JT, coach Sudi Ulanga will lean on the experience and leadership of Ageno, alongside contributions from Batamuliza and Shakirah Nanvubya, as the team chases its first-ever finals appearance.
