Paul Put has announced a 26-man Uganda Cranes squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, with crucial away fixtures against Botswana and Algeria in October.

The squad sees the return of United States-based midfielders Bobosi Byaruhanga (Oakland Roots) and Allan Oyirwoth (New England Revolution), both expected to add experience and creativity in the middle of the park.

However, coach Put has made several changes from the squad that featured in the recent home games against Mozambique and Somalia at Namboole.

Joel Mutakubwa, Elvis Bwomono, Karim Watambala, Patrick Jonah Kakande, and John Paul Dembe have all been left out of the squad.

Local players will travel on Sunday morning and will be joined by the foreign contingent.

Uganda currently sit second in Group G with 15 points, four behind leaders Algeria and level on points with Mozambique, with two matches remaining.

The stakes are high, as the winners of each group will secure direct qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while the four best runners-up will advance to a playoff to determine which team progresses to the inter-confederation playoffs.
