UPPC Stage Comeback to Beat Lugazi for First Win

UPPC had to fight back from a goal down to emerge 2-1 winners over Lugazi at their home – the Bugonga fisheries ground in Entebbe.

A late resurgence saw Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s newly assembled team stage an incredible come back to pick their first win of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League campaign.

The Publishers were already trailing 1-0 within the opening 25 minutes of the game. Freedom Mungudit scored first to put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute.

The first half ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors, piling more pressure on the hosts, who were headed for a second consecutive loss in the league.

With less than 30 minutes left to play for, UPPC finally got a lifeline, after Isa Mubiru scored in the 63rd minute to draw the game level.

Fazil Tumwine also scored in the 82nd minute to put UPPC infront. It was just a few minutes remaining before full-time, and the Publishers defended the 2-1 scoreline diligently to win the game at home.

It was just the perfect response Abdallah Mubiru needed, following their opening (1-0) loss to newcomers Buhimba United Saints.
