Patriko Mujuuka opens up about being denied NUP party ticket

Former celebrated media personality and events emcee, Patriko Mujuuka, has broken his silence on a political setback that deeply affected him, missing out on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket in the 2021 general elections.

Mujuuka admitted that being denied the NUP flag bearer position for the Nakifuma Constituency parliamentary seat left him devastated and altered the course of his plans.

“Not getting the NUP flag bearers’ ticket in the 2021 general elections for the Nakifuma Constituency MP seat hurt me. It distorted my plan, “Patriko Mujuuka stated.

Despite his long-standing friendship with NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, Mujuuka was unsuccessful in securing the party’s endorsement.

The NUP ticket instead went to Hon. Fred Ssimbwa, who became the official candidate and won the seat with a landslide victory.

Responding to speculation that his relocation to the United States was linked to political disappointment, he acknowledged the possibility.

Those who say that missing out on the party ticket led me to leave the country could be right, because if I had become a Member of Parliament, I wouldn’t be in America now. So, if they say it in that context, they’re entirely right.

The once prominent media figure, who commanded a loyal fanbase across radio and television, has kept a relatively low profile since moving abroad.
