JT Lady Jaguars drew first blood against Magic Stormers taking game one of the 2025 National Basketball League semifinal best-of-five series.
JT Lady Jaguars secured a well-deserved 63-37 victory against Magic Stomers in the NBL Playoffs encounter at YMCA Court, Wandegeya on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Jaguars started strong, with Brenda Kayaga sinking a 3-point jump shot from the corner. They later went on a 10-0 run, ending the first quarter with a 12-point lead.
The Jaguars maintained their momentum, extending their lead to 19 points at halftime. Sudi Ulanga’s team moved the ball swiftly, breaking through the Magic Stormers’ zonal defense.
Coming from the long break, both teams started slowly, with three minutes passing with no conversation. The Lady Jaguars faced a significant setback in the third minute of the period when Sarah Ageno was carried off the court after a bad landing.
Magic Stomers were limited to only eight points in the third quarter as they trailed by 23 points goint into the final stretch of the game.
Ulanga ran to his bench for deeper rotation as the Lady Jaguars claimed a 26-victory on the day in front of a handful of fans.
Mercy Batamuliza put up a great show scoring 17 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in a double-double.
Shakira Nanvubya scored 16 points and Brenda Kayaga added 11 points for the Lady Jaguars. Only Kur Ajah reached double digits for the Magic Stormers, finishing with 12 points.
