FUFA Super 8: BUL Reach Semifinals

BUL FC advanced to the quarterfinals of the FUFA Super Eight after a commanding 3-1 victory over Maroons in the return leg played at Nakivubo Stadium.

The Jinja-based side progressed 3-1 on aggregate following a goalless draw in the first leg.

Defender Thomas Ochungo set BUL on their way with a well-placed header off Ibrahim Orit’s corner, but Maroons quickly drew level when Apollo Kagogwe’s intended cross looped over goalkeeper Farouk Yawe and into the net.

Isaac Wagoina restored BUL’s lead from the penalty spot before Jerome Kirya sealed the result, pouncing on a poor clearance to sweep home the third goal from close range.

BUL, who are the defending champions, will now face the winner between SC Villa and KCCA in the semifinals, which will be played in a one-leg format.

The FUFA Super Eight is contested by the top eight teams from the previous Uganda Premier League campaign. However, reigning league champions Vipers SC pulled out of the competition to concentrate on pre-season preparations for the CAF Champions League.
