Eddy Kenzo advocates for extended concert times to benefit artists

Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president, Eddy Kenzo, has revealed that the Federation is pushing for government approval to extend concert stoppage time from the current 12:00am to 2:00am.
Speaking to the media after President Museveni’s Yoweri album launch, Kenzo noted that in addition to advocating for the copyright law amendment, musicians also want more performance hours.
We want to try and request the time for performances be increased from 12am to at least 2am because people delay in jam and enter concerts between 8pm-10pm and artists end up performing late and most times have supporting acts, so two hours is a very small time.
The BET award winner further said that the aim is to allow musicians a fair performance window of at least four hours, which would eliminate instances of officials having to use their influence to extend time for some events, a practice that often sparks accusations of double standards.
That will stop the act of me or any other official to use their authority and extend the time and make some people who are jealous feel angry about the double standards. So, we are striving for that and also to reduce the taxes.
