BUL, URA fire blanks as new season gets underway

BUL and URA settled for a barren stalemate on the first day of the 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Friday.
Neither side could find the breakthrough in the closely contested game played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The two teams handed League debuts to their new signings with Tom Ikara (second stint), Calvin Barni and Denis Ssewagudde all starting for BUL.
On the other hand, Nelson Ssenkatuka, Chrispus Kusiima, Ronald Otti and Arthur Kiggundu were in the starting XI for the Tax Collectors.
The first realistic attempt at goal fell to URA’s George Masembe in the 18th minute, attempting from distance but goalkeeper Ikara was equal to the effort.
Ssenkatak too had an opportunity in the second half when Moses Aliro teed hin up but he failed to connect home from close distance.
BUL on the other hand had few chances with Martin Aprem and Karim Ndugwa getting close but failed to find the target on different intervals.
The two teams will return to action next week with BUL hosting Maroons on 1st October while URA will be at home to NEC the following day.
