Aggrey Atandu: CATDA Sign Big League ‘Specialist’

Big League new entrants entrants CATDA have signed burly defender Aggrey Atandu from newly promoted top division side, Buhimba United Saints.

The defender has joined the Big League side on a two-year deal, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The central defender’s addition will boost CATDA’s defensive options as the Big League debutants want to make their first season in the second division count.

CATDA is now the sixth Big League club the defender will play for, after also previously featuring for Buhimba, Kyetume, Calvary, Blacks Power and Arua Hill.

Survival, failure and triumph — promotion and relegation, Atandu has seen it all! From winning the league unbeaten to suffering relegation, the ‘Sure Boy’ from Luzira has experienced it all in the Big League.

Atandu’s Extensive Big League Experience.

Atandu has guided three teams to the UPL, winning two league titles, including one unbeaten!

Atandu first played in Big League in the 2020/21 season, when he won the league title unbeaten with Arua Hill, under the tutelage of now NEC head coach Hussein Mbalangu.

The defender then joined Blacks Power, where he became an integral part of coach Vialli Bainomugisha’s title-winning side at Aki Bua Stadium, Lira in 2022.

From Blacks Power, Atandu joined Calvary for the 2022/23 season, before switching to Kyetume for the 2023/24 season.

At Kyetume, the defender endured a forgettable campaign in which the club suffered relegation back to the third division.

He then joined Buhimba in the 2024/25 season — a successful campaign that saw the Saints earn promotion to the UPL.

From Buhimba, Atandu has now joined another second division side for yet another thrilling Big League experience.
