The Junior Silverbacks (U16) are finally off the mark with the first victory of the ongoing tournament.
Uganda secured a well-deserved 73-53 victory against Guinea in the ongoing Afrobasket U16 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Uganda came into this game falling to Cameroon and Mali, placing the U16 Silverbacks in a desperate mood.
Guinea opened a seven-point (18-11) lead at the end of the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, Uganda led 14-11 heading into the halftime break, trailing by four (29-25).
Coming from the locker room, Uganda found their rhythm, taking a two-point (46-44) lead at the end of the third stanza.
The long shot started falling as Uganda limited Guinea to only nine points in the fourth quarter, securing a huge victory.
Pierre Laurent (13 points and 19 rebounds) and Shammah Kwizera (14 assists and 10 rebounds) led Uganda with double-doubles.
In the same breath, Shane Kwizera (14 points) and Lucas Ssenyonjo (13 points) joined the party in double digits.
