City Oilers put a step in the semifinals after taking game one in spectacular fashion.
City Oilers secured a well-deserved 77-62 victory against JT Jaguars in game one of the National Basketball League quarterfinal playoffs encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday.
After struggling in the regular season, the record champions added Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider, which boosted the team’s performance.
City Oilers opened a four-point lead (22-18) at the end of the first period in front of a loud crowd.
Abraham Dut’s layup concluded the second period as the JT Jaguars took a four-point lead (37-33) into the halftime break.
Coming from the locker rooms, City Oilers opened up a 10-point (54-44) at the end of the third quarter setting up a thrilling final period.
It was a one-way traffic as the final quarter Oilers secured a massive 15-point victory.
Chad Bowie (16 points), Mer Maker (13 points) and Kurt Curry Wegscheider (10 points) led City Oilers in double digits.
On the other hand, Peter Sifuma led the Jaguars’ fight with a double-double dropping 13 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
