Shillah Lamunu guides UCU Lady Canons to a game one victory over JKL Lady Dolphins in the best-of-five National Basketball League semifinal series.

UCU Lady Canons secured a 57-46 victory against JKL Lady Dolphins in the NBL Playoffs encounter at YMCA Court, Wandegeya on Wednesday evening.

Lamunu staged an impressive show dropping 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in a double-double that saw her side bag bragging rights.

Apart from the figures, Lamunu directed traffic, cleaned the glasses and was not scared to pierce through the Dolphins’ defensive unit with a strong drive.

Hajara joined the party scoring 10 points as the other Lady Canon to reach the double digits. On the other hand, only Hope Akello reaching double digits scoring 11 points.

The Lady Canons played strong defence, securing 54 rebounds, seven more than the Lady Dolphins. They also recorded 14 steals and two blocks to effectively counter the Dolphins’ attack.

Although the Lady Canons struggled with long shots, making only 4 of 27 attempts, they performed better infield, converting 20 of 38 attempts on the day.

In game two, the reigning champions will seek to improve on their conversion rate which was 13 of 37 inside the area and 3 of 29 outside the paint.

The two sides will lock horns in game two at the same ground on Friday, October 3, 2025.
