Makerere Opens Applications for 2026/27 Mature Age Entry Scheme

Makerere University has officially announced the opening of applications for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations for the 2026/2027 academic year, offering Ugandans, East Africans and international applicants a chance to secure admission through the competitive route.
The examinations will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with the Academic Registrar confirming that applicants must be at least 25 years old before August 1, 2026 to qualify.
Applications will only be submitted online via the university’s portal at https://see.mak.ac.ug, and each must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of UGX 210,000 for East African applicants, or $75 for international applicants, exclusive of bank charges. Payments are to be made through banks accredited by the Uganda Revenue Authority. The deadline for submission is Sunday, November 30, 2025.
In a notice signed by Academic Registrar Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the university cautioned against fraudulent agents and unauthorized documents, stressing that Makerere has not appointed any individual or body to solicit money or provide coaching services for the scheme.
“All interested applicants are advised to carefully read and understand the call before applying. Candidates are further required to create and keep secure their personal email addresses and login credentials, which will be used for official university communication,” the Registrar noted.
On exam day, applicants must present a coloured printout of the invitation letter with a clear passport-sized photograph. Photocopies will not be accepted.
The Mature Age Entry Scheme has for years provided opportunities for students who may not have pursued the conventional academic path, and the 2026/27 cycle is expected to attract thousands of candidates from across Uganda and beyond.
