Kenneth Mugabi reveals songwriting process and inspirations

Ahead of his concert, Tales Of Mugabi, Kenneth Mugabi has revealed his source of inspiration when he settles down to write a song.

Mugabi is one of the most talented Ugandan singers, vocalists, and songwriters.

In an interview with Sanyuka TV, he noted that he always uses his own life experiences and those of the people around him when writing music.

He notes that he takes on the character when he is told about someone else’s experience and tries to envision the pain they went through, artistically channeling it into the lyrics of his music.

I base on the society I am in, the people around me, and my life experiences. These inspire the lyrics of my songs.

Some of the painful songs were inspired by what my friends went through in their lives, but when I am writing, I envision myself in their place and take on the character to be able to tell the story based on their experiences.

Kenneth Mugabi will be performing at the Kampala Serena Hotel on 19th September 2025.

He notes that his new album ‘Tales Of Mugabi’ is about real-life stories and the experiences he has encountered over the years since leaving campus.
