Hundreds benefit from Rotary healthcare camp in Seguku

The Rotary club of Seguku, in partnership with Rotary clubs of Mutundwe, Akright City and Kajjansi, together with the Rotaract Clubs of Mutundwe, Kajjansi and Seguku (information), successfully conducted a community-wide immunization drive with integrated health services on September 5, 2025 at St Angela Catholic church, Bugema and Masjid Katale.
The event, which ran from 9am to 3pm, attracted community members of all ages and provided vital health services aimed at strengthening public health and preventing life-threatening diseases. More than 500 people were immunized against various preventable diseases, including children receiving essential childhood vaccines and girls above 11 years receiving the HPV vaccine.
In addition, the health outreach offered a range of integrated services, including: HIV/Aids testing and counseling, malaria testing and tuberculosis screening. Other offers at the outreach included hepatitis testing, health education and deworming for children and adults.
An immunization van from the ministry of Health enabled efficient service delivery and access to quality healthcare. Speaking at the event, the various Rotary club presidents commended the community for embracing the health initiative, and reaffirmed their commitment to championing disease prevention and health promotion.
Due to the high turnout of the community, Edmond Safali, the president, Rotary club of Seguku, noted that they will be holding regular healthcare camps so that no one is left out.
“I thank the community for heeding this effort and turning out in big numbers. We thank our various partners and all those that have sacrificed their time to make the day a success for everyone involved,” he said.
“Such outreaches align with the Rotary spirit of leaving no one out in the effort to uplift communities. We look forward for more camps in the coming months.”
Also present was Hudu Lubowa, the president, Rotaract club of Seguku (in formation), Dereck Musooka, president, Rotary club of Akright City and Stella Muhumuza, president, Rotary club of Mutundwe.
