Chaapa League Season 10 Set for Grand Finale at Mbarara High

The much-anticipated Season 10 of the Chaapa League, proudly sponsored by Guinness, will reach its thrilling climax on Saturday, 20th September 2025, at the Mbarara High School (Chaapa) Grounds under the theme “Road to the Kraal.”

After most of the season’s action took place in Kampala, the finale sees Chaapa alumni returning to the Kraal – back to the roots where it all began.

The season finale was officially launched on Wednesday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, where stakeholders promised an exciting showdown, extensive fan engagement, and a celebration of Chaapa heritage. The launch event also featured draws for the season finale matches.

Unlike previous editions, which followed a round-robin format, this season has embraced a knockout structure. The top eight teams from the regular season will now compete in quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately the final.

The quarter-final fixtures are as follows:

• CHOGM (2003) vs Msamatu (2001)
• Dingiswayo vs CF Burdizo
• See Far (2002) vs Sikukulu (2008)
• Yobo Yobo (2006) vs Bull Old Timers

Kenedy Gumisiriza, chairperson of the Chaapa League, expressed optimism ahead of the finale.
“The Road to the Kraal for the 10th edition of the Chaapa League is on. Preparations are in place for a successful climax on 20th September at Mbarara High School. We urge all alumni to come and attend,” Gumisiriza said.

Douglas Ainemani, the league’s head of technical, assured fans of a smooth flow of games on the final day.

Representing Guinness, Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited, highlighted the league’s broader significance beyond football.
“The Chaapa League provides an opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and network across generations. We at Guinness support it because of the sense of community it fosters,” she said, adding that hosting the finale in Mbarara will reconnect alumni with their roots while boosting the local economy.

Fans can expect an elevated matchday experience courtesy of Guinness, with Captain Morgan also available for attendees. Holistics, an alumni ladies’ team from Maryhill High School, will play a special match against the current students of their school during the finale.

The Chaapa League Season 10 promises a weekend of nostalgia, camaraderie, and high-quality football, as alumni return to the Kraal to celebrate a decade of football and community spirit.
