CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers: Kampala Queens through to semifinals

Uganda’s representatives at the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, Kampala Queens are through to the semifinals. The Queens of Soccer confirmed their slot into the final four on Thursday.
Kampala Queens needed favors from elsewhere to book a berth into the semifinals. It should be noted that they had ended their group business on Monday and fate was not in their hands.
Today, CBE from Ethiopia and Top Girls from Burundi played out a goalless draw while JKT Queens from Tanzania defeated South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars, results that played into Kampala Queens’ favor.
Hosts’ Kenya Police Bullets FC topped Group A on six points, Rwanda Sport of Rwanda led Group B while JKT Queens sailed through as leaders in Group C.
With Group leaders going through automatically, the fourth position was taken by the best second placed team across all the three groups.
Kampala Queens who obliterated Eritrea’s Denden 7-0 therefore took the aforementioned slot.
The Queens of Soccer will therefore face Rayon Sport in the semifinals while Kenya Police Bullets will take on JKT Queens, both games slated for Sunday.
It should be noted that only the Champions get the sole ticket to represent the zone (CECAFA) at the final tournament slated for November in Morocco.
