CAF WCLZQ: Kampala Queens Thrash Denden to Go Top of Group A

Ugandan representatives Kampala Queens delivered a dominant performance as they thrashed Eritrea’s Denden FC 7-0 in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, temporarily moving to the top of Group A.
In a match played at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kamiyat Naigaga, Peace Muduwa, and Turist Lema each netted a brace, while an own goal by Denden goalkeeper Rim Redie completed the rout.
The scoring began early, with Naigaga opening the floodgates in the 3rd minute following a brilliant solo run.
She beat her marker, cut inside the box, and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Kampala Queens an early lead.
Five minutes later, Turist Lema doubled the advantage with a composed finish after receiving a well-weighted through ball from Meadin Sahilu.
Peace Muduwa extended the lead in the 32nd minute, firing home a powerful shot inside the box, assisted by the lively Naigaga.
Kampala Queens resumed the second half in similar fashion, with Lema and Muduwa each scoring within the first three minutes of the restart to make it 5-0.
In the 66th minute, the Queens were forced into a substitution as goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro was replaced by debutant Sharon Kaidu Norah following an injury.
A few minutes later, Denden appeared to have pulled one back, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Naigaga added her second of the game before an unfortunate own goal by Redie sealed a comprehensive 7-0 victory for the Ugandan champions.
Another debutant, new signing Precious Phiri, also featured in the game and delivered a promising performance.
The emphatic win lifted Kampala Queens to the top of Group A with three points and a +6 goal difference as they concluded their group-stage matches.
The final Group A fixture is scheduled for Wednesday, with Denden FC set to face Kenya Police Bullets FC.
The Kenyan side will be aiming for a win to reclaim the top spot and secure direct qualification to the semifinals.
Kampala Queens, meanwhile, will wait for the completion of all group matches to learn their fate whether they progress as the best second-placed team or exit the competition.
