Uganda Cranes, Mozambique all square at half time | 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers
  • HalfTime: Uganda Cranes 0-0 Mozambique

Uganda Cranes versus Mozambique remain goalless after the opening 45 minutes in the Group G encounter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The hosts have slightly been the better side, creating countless scoring opportunities with none converted.

Pacy wide man Rogers Mato, creative gem Allan Okello as well as forwards Steven Desse Mukwala and Jude Ssemugabi have all failed to beat Ivane Urrubal in Mozambique’s goal posts.

The game commenced on a high tempo with Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi having a physical confrontation with  Stanley Ratifo, but the Burkinabe referee Vincent Kabore was quicker to calm the storm.

Ssemugabi tested goalkeeper Urrubal first, forcing a corner kick in the 4th minute of the game.

In the 8th minute, Mato assisted Ssemugabi who hesitated to shoot before being dispossessed for a second corner kick under ten minutes.

By the quarter-hour mark, Uganda Cranes had fully stamped their authority onto the game with Mato having another big chance fluffed.

Flying left back Azizi Kayondo assisted Okello. The latter had a shot deflected for a corner kick.

The Cranes’ surge continued with Mato on the left releasing Okello but the ball was too fast for the Vipers’ star boy.

Mato and Mukwala had shots deflected as the hosts sought the much-needed breakthrough.

Another 45 minutes await the two teams who have several options of substitute players on the respective benches.
