FUFA Super 8: Maroons late win raises more concerns for KCCA

It could be just pre-season but KCCA’s performance in the FUFA Super 8 has already left a bad taste in the mouth of its staunch fans.

The Lugogo based side could not go past SC Villa in the quarterfinals losing 2-1 on aggregate with the return leg played on Friday ending goalless.

Today, in their own backyard, KCCA suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Maroons in the battle for 5/6 position.

Two late goals from their former player Jackson Nunda and Baden Mujaheed Ogama piled more misery on Brian Ssenyondo and his charges. It should be noted that the two goal scorers came on as second half substitutes, replacing Ivan Mayanja and Ronald Ssempala respectively.

Nunda was at the end of Brian Nkuubi’s free kick in the 83rd minute, heading the ball beyond goakeeper Charles Lukwago.

Six minutes later, Ogama capitalized on a miscommunication between two debutants in Lukwago and defender Enock Walusimbi to poke the ball into the back of the net.

A long ball from goalkeeper Simon Tamale bounced behind defender Walusimbi but Ogama made a timely move to flick the ball beyond onrushing goalkeeper Lukwago.

The win means Maroons will contend for the 5th/6th position against Express FC. On the other hand KCCA will play Kitara for the 7th/8th position placement.
