We Don’t Trust Bobi Wine!! Former NUP Supporters Abandon Robert Kyagulanyi For Museveni

A group of supporters from the National Unity Platform (NUP) has abandoned opposition leader Bobi Wine and pledged their loyalty to President Yoweri Museveni. The move has come as a surprise to many political observers in Uganda.
These former NUP foot soldiers stated that they have “seen the light in Museveni only” and believe he is the only one fit to lead the country. They argued that his leadership brings stability and experience that Uganda needs.
The supporters expressed disappointment with Bobi Wine, also known as Robert Kyagulanyi, claiming they no longer trust his leadership and vision for the country. They said he has failed to meet their expectations over the years.
NRM, the ruling party led by President Museveni, has welcomed the defectors and paraded them publicly. Party officials praised them for making the “right decision” and warned others that Museveni’s leadership is what Uganda truly needs.
This shift has sparked debates among political analysts. Many see it as a blow to Bobi Wine’s campaign, especially since the defectors were active grassroots supporters who played key roles in mobilizing voters.
The defectors said their decision was motivated by a desire for national unity and peace. They argued that continual division within opposition parties was harming Uganda’s progress.
Bobi Wine’s camp has yet to issue a formal response to the defections. However, some insiders suggest that the move could prompt him to reassess his strategies and strengthen his relationship with remaining supporters.
Political commentators note that defections like these are not uncommon in Uganda’s political history, especially in the lead-up to elections. Loyalty shifts can have a major impact on voter perception and campaign momentum.
The NUP supporters who switched to Museveni said they hope their decision will encourage others to support stability and development under the current government. They called on fellow citizens to prioritize the nation’s future over party politics.
As the political landscape evolves, analysts predict that Museveni’s camp may continue to gain support from smaller opposition factions. Meanwhile, Bobi Wine will need to find new ways to engage and inspire his remaining base to remain competitive in future elections.
