NBL Playoffs: ​UCU Canons cruise past Kampala Rockets

​The UCU Canons have advanced to the semifinals of the National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs after securing two straight wins against the Kampala Rockets.

Following a loss in the first game, the Canons bounced back to win the best-of-three series.

​In their latest victory, the Canons secured a 64-38 win against the Rockets at the Jaguars Den on Sunday.

​The Canons took control early when a driving layup from Marvin Jesse Okurut extended their lead to 11 points (21-10).

Their strong defence continued into the second quarter, limiting the Rockets to just eight points and giving the Canons a commanding 34-18 lead at halftime.

Even though the Rockets fought back to win the third quarter (14-13), they still trailed by 15 points (47-32) heading into the final period.

The Canons then sealed their victory with a dominant final quarter, securing a thrilling 26-point win.

​Jimmy Otim was the leading scorer for the Canons with 18 points, while Ibanda Lwabaga and Marvin Jesse Okurut each added 10 points.

Puati Ozias scored 15 points, and Mpiya Juf contributed 11 for the Kampala Rockets.
