Yasin and Samman geared for African Rally title showdown

After four rounds spreading across four East African countries, the final showdown in the African Rally Champion fight heads to Morogoro, Tanzania, this weekend.

Will it be Yasin Nasser or Samman Vohra?

The two drivers all have a mathematical chance of claiming their maiden Africa Rally Championship title.

Only eight points separate the two, with Yasin standing at 114 points while Vohra at 106. Such closeness presents a thrilling finale.

Yasin and co-driver Ali Katumba, who are on their third attempt at the African crown, have previously come close. In 2021, the crew could only manage to settle for second place behind eventual winner Carl Tundo.

Now with the season finale heading to Tanzania, Yasin’s home ground, the crew’s hopes for better luck.

The Moil Rally Team’s chances of the title will only materialise if they can finish ahead of Vohra or when they finish right behind the Kenyan.

Vohra boasts of a stronger rally approach, though. The Kenyan has proved that he has the pace, with two wins to his name and an impressive performance in the championship.

Co-driver Drew Sturrock has been in such moments before. Sturrock has three ARC titles to his name.

Vohra, in his Skoda Fabia Rally2, is yet again expected to set the pace in Morogoro.

The title showdown will be spiced up with competing crews of Karan Patel, Ahmed Huwel, who could influence the positions and cause a shift in the title run-in.
