KCCA held Kitara in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Royals Park, Butema on Friday evening.
Emmanuel Wasswa fired the hosts ahead before Sharifu Ssengendo scored KCCA’s consolation.
It was a low-attended game compared to the previous encounters between the two sides further underlining the alluded fans boycott of the league new format business.
Wasswa nodded home from close range to give the Royals the much-needed lead in under five minutes. KCCA failed to deal with the aerial ball and were punished.
Herbert Achayi was fouled outside the box in a prime position, but Joel Sserunjogi’s delivery in the 25th minute went inches wide of the frame.
At the stroke of the first half, quick interplay between Saidi Mayanja and Gavin Kizito saw the former whip in a cross that was timely met by Sammy Ssebaduka, but his effort wasn’t powerful enough to go past the custodian.
In the 75th minute, Achayi beat his marker before setting up Alex Yiga whose shot went narrowly wide of the frame as the visitors kept knocking on the door.
With ten minutes left on the clock, Ssengendo leveled matters with his left foot, thus silencing Kitara’s handful of fans.
The Kasasiro Boys picked a pivotal point giving Brian Ssenyondo a decent return to Butema since he was sacked by Kitara, a club he guided to the Uganda Cup glory.
KCCA return to action on Saturday, October 4, as they take on SC Villa at Mandela National Stadium in the Kampala Derby.
On the other hand, Kitara will be locking horns with Vipers on the same day and at the same ground as the Kampala Derby.
