False start for Kampala Queens at CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers

Uganda’s representatives at the CAF Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, Kampala Queens had a disappointing start to the campaign, falling to hosts Kenya Police Bullets.
In the game played at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, the Queens of Soccer suffered a 1-0 loss courtersy of Emily Kemunto’s second half goal.
Police looked strong from the start with the Ugandan duo of Zaina Namuleme and Margret Kunihira who previously featured for Kampala Queens wrecking havoc to their former paymasters.
Indeed they had several chances with Kampala Queens on the backfoot for longer spells of the game.
The loss for Kampala Queens mean their hopes of progressing beyond the group stage become minimal but must now win their final game against Denden from Eritrea and hope they finish as the best second-placed team.
It should be noted that the leaders of each of the three groups progress to the semifinals alongside the top ranking second placed team across all the three groups.
Only the Champion gets the sole ticket to represent CECAFA at the final tournament slated for November in Morocco.
