ESG survey launched in Uganda

Kasi Insight, Africa’s leading decision intelligence platform, in partnership with Capital One Group (COG EA Ltd), has launched a nationwide survey to assess how organizations in Uganda are integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

The survey, unveiled on Monday, will collect data directly from companies across multiple sectors to identify challenges, future priorities, and the extent to which ESG frameworks are influencing decision-making in Uganda.

Speaking at the launch, Ernest Ssekisonge, Managing Director of Kasi Insight, said the initiative comes at a critical time when global investors, regulators, and consumers are paying closer attention to corporate ESG performance.

“In Africa, the regulatory landscape is shifting rapidly, and companies that fail to align their operations with sustainability principles risk losing competitiveness,” Ssekisonge noted.

The survey findings will be released on October 22, 2025, during an awards ceremony in Kampala. This initiative builds on the momentum of the inaugural 2025 ESG Summit hosted in Kampala last June by Capital One Group, which highlighted opportunities and gaps in sustainable business practices.

Why ESG matters for Uganda

Environmental, Social, and Governance standards have become a global benchmark for responsible business. In Uganda, industries such as banking, oil and gas, telecommunications, and agriculture face growing pressure to comply with international sustainability expectations.

For companies aiming to attract foreign investment or participate in global supply chains, demonstrating ESG commitments is increasingly essential.

“We have not had a comprehensive review of ESG initiatives in Uganda that showcases commitment towards driving shared value and contributing to sustainable growth for the society and the economy. This survey seeks to provide that baseline,” Ssekisonge and Paul Mwirigi Muriungi, managing director of COG EA, said in a joint statement.

They added that the study would help businesses better understand Uganda’s ESG landscape, equipping them with the knowledge to tackle sustainability challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Kasi Insight’s role

As the technical lead, Kasi Insight aims to empower decision-makers by delivering real-time, aggregated, and trended data across Africa—faster and more effectively than traditional market research.

“In order to drive value creation, achieve long-term sustainability, and deliver positive impact for both internal and external stakeholders, ESG must be deeply integrated into business operations,” Ssekisonge emphasized.
