It has already been a busy few weeks for Frank Lampard and Chelsea in the transfer window.

And the Blues are now closing in on signing number six ahead of the new season.

Hakim Ziyech,Timo Werner,Ben Chilwell,Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva have already all arrived at Stamford Bridge, but it seems that Lampard isn't done there with Chelsea now closing in on the signing of Kai Havertz.

The midfielder has been a long term target for Chelsea this summer and it now looks as though a deal is close to getting over the line.

And that is an opinion held by Leverkusen assistant boss Marcel Daum, who has outlined the midfielder's qualities.

He told talkSPORT: "If you see his movement, he’s very elegant, he’s always calm, he has great passing ability. What a lot of people don’t see, because we watch him every day, is that he’s pretty fast. That’s a big bonus.

"He’s a great player; he’s scoring goals, he’s great in the air and he’s pretty fast.

"It’s up to him how far he can go."

Chelsea told how much it will cost to complete deal

Chelsea would be able to secure Havertz's signature if they paid north of £90million.

That is according to Bayer Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz.

Bosz told Algemeen Dagblad back in March: “He can’t be held on to next summer. That will be a transfer of €100million (£90million). What am I saying? More than €100million (£90million)!”

Havertz compared to Hazard

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov recently compared Havertz to former Chelsea star Eden Hazard, as the Bulgarian outlined the fact that the Blues have not yet replaced the Belgian with a player of such magnitude.

Berbatov told Betfair: “I think it is interesting to see Chelsea linked with him, they haven't really replaced Hazard since he left and it was always going to be difficult to do so.

“I think for sure they need to go for a young player with a lot of football ahead of them, if that is the case then they will also have to be patient as well because sometimes young players need time to adjust to the physicality and speed of Premier League."

Blues planning £75m Havertz bid

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea have stepped up their interest in securing Havertz's signature and are ready to launch a £75million bid to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

It is claimed that Chelsea, despite knowing that they face stern competition to land his signature, are desperate to add him to Frank Lampard's squad and have identified him as a player that they want.

Havertz is currently valued at the £75million mark and the Blues are willing to pay it, as they look to try and bridge the gap on their Premier League rivals.

Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and moving in the right direction to securing the signature of Timo Werner, the addition of Havertz would certainly be the cherry on the icing on the cake for Chelsea this summer.

"Many clubs are interested in him," he told Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger (via Metro). "I see the player’s wish to take the next step sometime in the near future.

The Athletic, via the Express, have reported that Chelsea have opened talks with Leverkusen to try and negotiate a deal for Havertz ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening for business.

Speculation regarding Havertz's future has been rumbling on over the past few weeks, with increasing interest in the Germany international emerging from Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Lampard is desperate to add some creativity to his midfield and Havertz would most certainly do just that.

According to German publication Bild, via the Metro, Havertz will soon sit down and discuss his long-term future with Bayer Leverkusen on July 4, following the DFB Pokal final between Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

Interest is mounting as each day passes by in the German star, with both Chelsea and Bayern keen on landing his signature.

Havertz is open to the idea of sealing a move to Chelsea, but only as long as they have secured Champions League football for next season.

And the 21-year-old is happy to thrash out plans for his future once Leverkusen's season is concluded following the clash with Bayern in just over a week's time.

Leverkusen are hopeful that they can retain Havertz's signature but they may face a stern battle if high offers come their way.

Chelsea could land Havertz in cut-price deal

The Bundesliga season reached its conclusion on Saturday afternoon and Bayer Leverkusen completed the campaign with a 1-0 home win over Mainz, with Kevin Volland netting the only goal after just two minutes.

Despite concluding the season with a three-point haul, Leverkusen, as a result of Borussia Mönchengladbach's win over Hertha Berlin, missed out on securing Champions League football by two points.

That means that Leverkusen, according to a reports, could now be willing to let the midfielder go for a fee nearer to £70million, opposed to the £90million price tag they would have demanded had they secured a top-four finish.

This is good news for Chelsea as they are understood to be happy to spend around £70million on attempting to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Following Saturday's win over Mainz, Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz issued an update on Havertz's future.

He said: "I don’t feel that he is thinking too much about transferring.

"I certainly don’t have the impression that this will be his last game for the club. He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.

"That will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against Rangers in August.

"Of course, that’s all dependent on nothing happening before then."

Leverkusen will be willing to accept payment for Havertz in instalments.

That is according to BIld reporter Christian Falk who has issued an update on the big-money transfer.
