2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Golf Open tees off in Lugazi

The opening round of the 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Golf Open officially commenced on Wednesday, 10th September with round one action.
The first 18 holes followed a successful PRO-Am championship, a precursor tournament where amateurs played alongside the professionals.
Over 80 professionals from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and the United States of America are in action on the hilly golfing facility.
“I am ready to rumble. I got the momentum from the PRO-AM tournament” Vincent Byamukama, who shot 4-under during the PRO-Am stated.
Byamukama started the opening round with Nevy Milazi from Zimbabwe and another Ugandan, James Koto.
Former winner Robson Chinoi from Zimbabwe played round one alongside Kenya’s Borniface Simwa and Ugandan female professional Flavia Namakula.
On-colour Ugandan professional Ronald Rugumayo teed off last at 12:10 PM with Uganda’s Henry Lujja and a Kenyan pro Jacob Okello.
Fresh from winning the 2025 Uganda Johnnie Walker Amateur Open, Uganda’s Joseph Cwinya-ai, one of the ten amateur players with wild-card invitation featured in round one with Fadhyl Nkya and Erneste Ndayisenga.
The professionals will embark on round two on Thursday, 11th September 2025 to make 36 holes; and by cut shall be determined after for the successful pros who will proceed for the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday.
The total kitty being competed for is $50,000 (at least Ug.Shs 174,750,000).
