Bukedea Comprehensive School is officially the new kid on the blocks of Uganda’s school volleyball.

The institution which is reportedly owned by the Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among won both the boys and girls’ volleyball gold medals during the 2024 USSSA Ball Games 2 at Teso College Aloet.

In the epic girl’s final, Bukedea Comprehensive School overcame a hard-fighting St Elizabeth outfit from Western Uganda 3-2.

At 2 sets apiece, a decisive set was played with Bukedea Comprehensive School showing their mantle to win the contest.

They also managed to produce the most valuable player in Camila Akot.

As St Elizabeth Girls School earned silver Seroma Christian High School settled for bronze.

For the boys, it was Bukedea Comprehensive School with the gold, after stopping Namugongo Vocational and Secondary School 3-1.

After taking the lead, Bukedea Comprehensive School squandered the opportunity with Namugongo Vocational and Secondary School fighting back to make amends at 1-all.

It then necessitated grit, character, determination and the mental strength to win the subsequent two sets; taking home the deserved gold medal.

Meanwhile, St Augustine Minor Seminary finished third to take home bronze medals.

Bukedea Comprehensive School also produced the boys’ MVP in David Kigozi.

The USSSA Ball Games 2 also had Volleyball, Netball, Handball, Basketball (3X3), Rugby 7’s and Athletics.

These were qualifiers for 2024 FEASSSA Games coming up still in Teso zone at Bukedea Comprehensive and Amus College School (16th to 24th August).

The official closing ceremony had the netball final between St Mary’s Kitende and Buddo Secondary School as well as 800M and 4X100m relay finals.

State minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang witnessed the climax, lauding the participants and all the schools.

The top three schools per discipline from either gender were rewarded with medals (gold, silver and bronze) with trophies to the champions and medals to each Most Valuable Player (MVP) per sport.
