The opening round of the 2024 West Nile Golf Open for the professionals was completed at the 9-hole Arua club on Thursday, 13th June.
Marvin Kibirige took command of the entire field with a 3-under score of 68 (gross) on the par-71 course.
The Namulonge club-based golf professional is two shots ahead of Entebbe based Vincent Byamukama.
Two golfers Abraham Ainamani and David Kamulindwa played level par-71.
Emmanuel Opio Onito is 1-over 72 after the opening 18 holes’ action.
Saidi Mawa, Emmanuel Ogwang, Tadeo Gaita Rodel, James Koto and Davis Kato returned 2-over 73 to complete the top ten.
Bulhan Matovu (74), Ronald Otile (76), Henry Lujja (76), Joseph Mawejje (76) and Adolf Muhumuza (77) are in the leading 15 positions.
In total, 22 professionals featured in round one ahead of the second 18 holes on Friday, 14th June 2024.
The West Nile Golf Open is organized by the West Nile club in Arua city in conjunction with Uganda Golf Union, Uganda Ladies Golf Union, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Crown Beverages under the Pepsi brand, White Cap Crisp, Orchard Interiors, Nbs Sport and KCB Bank.
