Muhammad Shaban has announced his departure from KCCA after talks over a new contract failed to materialize.

The striker leaves the Kasasiro after two years, his second stint with the club he played for earlier when he left Onduparaka before stints abroad in Morocco and then Vipers.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from this incredible club after two unforgettable seasons,” read part of the statement released on his social media pages.

Last season, the forward finished as the top scorer with 17 goals despite his side finishing fifth in a season they started so badly.

His individual form also saw him return to the national team where he scored the winner in the win over Botswana and also played in the 2-1 defeat to Algeria – both matches at Namboole.

His exit leaves a gapping hole in the forward line at KCCA ahead of next season and could see the club go into the market for a formidable replacement.

Abdallah Mubiru has already added striker Emmanuel Anyama to the squad but Shaban’s shoes could be too big for the youngster to fill at the moment.

Shaban’s next destination remains a mystery but it is more likely to be a move outside of the country.
