Goalkeeper Mathias “Kone” Kigonya’s journey from Uganda via Kenya to Zambia has now had the latest stop in Zimbabwe, at money bugs – Yadah Football Club.

Kigonya penned a year and half long employment contract after agreeing terms with the club management.

“I am happy to join Yadah Football Club and to play with some of the best players in Zimbabwe as Khama (Billiat)” Kigonya noted in an interview with Kawowo Sports.

Yadah Football Club is owned by Zimbabwe’s famous prophet Walter “Man of God” Magaya who constructed the 5000-seater Hearts Stadium, the club’s home ground in Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare.

Yadah also captured talented midfield gem Tanaka Shandirwa, from Dynamos.

Kigonya has been previously employed at Zambian topflight side Trident Football Club having earlier played at another Zambian side, Forest Rangers.

His journey commenced at Soana before he crossed to Soltilo Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League.

He crossed to Kenya where he featured at Sofapaka Sports Club and later Azam Football Club in Tanzania.

Kigonya is a proven shot stopper with exceptional ball-playing and commanding abilities with skills to tame during one-against-one situations and awesome at saving penalties.

He is also the director of the Mathias Kigonya Heart to Heart Foundation; famous for charity deeds towards the young, elderly and poor in the communities.

Kigonya is represented by intermediary Simon Wasswa.
