Nyakasura had to overcome a difficult opponent in Avengers at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe as the Men’s T20 League got underway. The youngsters were brave with the bat to win the doubleheader.
Opening batsman Amos Ahura scored a half century (50) and 41 in either game to anchor the run-scoring at the top with the support coming from Brian Asaba (41) and Benjamin Baguma (44).
It was the only game in Group C that also includes Soroti City, Mukono Warriors and Premier.
In Group B action, Tornado picked up maximum points against SKLPS in Lugogo. Busoga College Mwiri student Eric Mukis was in fine form over the weekend for Tornado as his late cameo with the bat helped them collect enough runs as they piled on 143 runs in the morning game and he picked up 4/20 with the ball in the afternoon with Cricket Cranes batter Stephen Wabwose stroking 53 to pick up a 6 wicket win.
In Group A action, Tornado Bee travelled to Jinja and picked up the win against the students of Jinja SS. Anas Baig (53) had a solid half century that took down the youngsters in the first game and in the afternoon, he was prolific with ball-in-hand picking up 3/14 as the newly promoted side claimed victory on the road.
The T20 League will continue this weekend on different grounds as teams chase glory in the season.
