Nile Breweries Limited has continued to manifest self and prove that they are indeed among the leading brands that support sports development in Uganda.

Barely 48 hours after announcing a Ug.Shs 200,000,000 package for team Uganda bound for the 2024 Olympics in Paris city, France; the beer manufacturers has confirmed a Ug.Shs 1 billion commitment to the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU).

This was during a media inter-face at the lake side headquarters of Nile Breweries Limited in Luzira, Kampala on Thursday, 13th June 2024 as witnessed by Ambrose Tashobya, the chairperson of the National Council of Sports (NCS) who also represented the state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang.

The Ug.Shs 1 billion sponsorship to PAU will cover the prestigious Nile Special National pool open championship and the revamped Nile Special National pool league.

The sponsorship to pool comes after the unquestioned attachment to Rugby, football, basketball, Uganda Olympic Committee and the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).

Douglas Karema, the Trade Marketing Executive at Nile Breweries boldly hinted of the relationship between the NBL and PAU, envisaged on the wavelength of reaching higher horizons for Ugandan sports’ exports.

In due appreciation, Bob Trubish, the chairman of the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) hailed the brewers for the financial token, tagging the feat as a landmark.

Tashobya appreciated Nile Breweries for the brick contributed to Uganda’s sports sub sector wall.

I acknowledge and thank the immense the contribution your contribution to Uganda’s sports. Recently, you supported the Uganda Olympic Committee. You have been supportive to rugby, football and other sports. Definitely, there is a clear return in investment and I also want to thank the fourth estate for promoting the sporting activities. Pool players were represented by the reigning female national champion Lukia Naiga and the runners up for the males; Hazali “Hazard” Lukomwa.

“I thank Nile Special for the package given to us. They have really helped us move an extra mile by improving our lives for better” Naiga noted.

“I am gearing up for the 2024 Nile Special National pool open championship. I am training well and I desire to drive away that car” Lukomwa who played second fiddle to Ceaser Chandiga revealed.

Next Media Group, a key media partner for Pool Association of Uganda was ably represented by Desire Mugumisa as Moses Alsayed Lubega led the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).

PAU vice president Mweere, publicist George Katongole and other officials also attended.

Sponsorship nitty gritty:

The Nile Breweries Limited sponsorship will span for a duration for two years (2024 and 2025) for a total cost of Ug.Shs 1 billion covering the Nile Special National Pool Open as well as the Nile Special National pool league.

This sponsorship comes with great value additions particularily for the league where the prize monies have doubled.

The league cues off in July for round one and round two will start by November before the awards ceremony in January 2025.

For the Nile Special national open, qualifiers commence in July 2024 with the regionals set for August before the grand finale at Lugogo on 16th November 2024.

At the grand finale, a total of 128 men and 32 women will battle for the bragging rights.

Every participant at the national open will receive a branded Nile Special cue.
