Special Forces Command revels in glory after success at 17th CDF Cup


Special Forces Command (SFC) sports team was granted a hero’s welcome at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe Municipality following success at the 7th CDF Cup held in Masaka city.
SFC won the football and range competitions which involved the other units of the army across the country.
Major Moses Kajimbi, the team leader cited the significance of the CDF Cup which entails unity, cohesion and morale enhancement, physical fitness, develops discipline, confidence and fitness for individual soldiers.
He attributed the victory to teamwork, discipline and resilience.
“The command has unwavering commitment for excellence both on the range and in the field, reflecting the values of professionalism and resilience” Major Kajimbi stated upon the team’s return.
In the SFC won the overall shooting competition after emerging the best in the different sections of the shooting as best shooter – LMG men and women, march three, one, two, six, moving target (men and women), march four pistol and the overall gong.
For the football competition, SFC overcame Third Division in the well contested finale.
SFC won 3-2 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended goal-less.
At the semi-final stage, SFC had beaten 5th Division Team 2-0 whilst Third Division overcame Second Division 1-0.
The grand finale was attended by the CDF himself General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Meanwhile, in the Netball final, Mountain Division lifted the trophy after overcoming Military Police 35-31.
The early preparations propelled us to victory. I thank all the players and the officials on the Special Forces Command team. The support from the command was also overwhelming. Everybody is a winner having ended the championship very well.
