NEC FC Crash Out of CAF Confederation Cup

*Nairobi United 1-1 NEC FC
NEC FC’s continental campaign came to a painful end on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Nairobi United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round return leg at Nyayo Stadium.
Charles Waibi gave the Ugandan side hope in the 26th minute, finishing off a Geriga Atendele long throw after Nairobi United’s defense failed to clear.
NEC continued to dominate, creating several openings but failing to convert their chances.
The hosts, who had drawn 2-2 in the first leg at Nakivubo, fought back strongly in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 65th minute when Duncan Omalla, set up by winger Ovella Ochieng, slotted in the equalizer.
With the aggregate score locked at 3-3, Nairobi United advanced to the next round on away goals rule courtesy of their two goals scored in Kampala.
NEC coach Hussein Mbalangu will feel disappointed after his side failed to convert opportunities that cost his side progression in a tie they looked capable of winning.
