NBL Playoffs: Sommet sweep KCCA Panthers to storm semifinals


Sommet Basketball Club has completed the acquisition of their ticket to the semifinals of the ongoing 2025 National Basketball League quarterfinal playoffs.
Sommet BC secured a well-deserved 75-58 victory against KCCA Panthers in the NBL Playoffs encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday evening.
This was Sommet’s second win in the best-of-three series, thus sweeping KCCA Panthers to secure a slot in the semifinals.
John Focus Teko completed the opening period with a perfect trip to the line as Sommet opened up a six-point lead (19-13).
Despite the Panthers’ fight in the second period, Sommet held on to take a five-point lead (36-31) into the halftime break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Sommet kept the foot on the gas pedal, thus extending their lead to 11 points (56-45) at the end of the third period.
Sommet kept the positive rhythm as they bagged a 17-point victory on the day.
Nyembo Fataki (15 points and 12 rebounds) and Teko (15 points and 10 rebounds) were instrumental for Sommet as they harvested double-doubles.
On the other hand, only Davis Assimwe (18 points) and Kizito Caeser (15 points) reached double digits for the KCCA Panthers.
