NBL Playoffs: City Oilers Cruise to Semis with Win Over Rockets

City Oilers secured a 91-69 victory against Kampala Rockets in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Arena on Wednesday night.

The record league champions were too good for a dull Kampala Rockets side, thus securing a semifinal slot in the ongoing tournament.

City Oilers took charge of the game from the start, leading the first quarter with 12 points (31-19), and the charge was maintained until the last minute.

Despite improving in the second quarter, Kampala Rockets trailed by 13 points (45-32) going into the long break.

Coming from the locker rooms, Ben Komakech sealed the third quarter with a smart shot beyond the arc as City Oilers opened a 23-point lead (70-40).

Former City Oilers shooting guard Ruai Luak made a dunk to put an end to the one-sided encounter as Kampala Rockets trailed by 22 points.

Christian Ndibu managed a huge double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling down 15 rebounds, but it was not enough for his side to claim the victory.

Fayed Baale (18), Mer Maker (16), Titus Lual (13), Ben Komakech (10), and Benjamin Kawumi (10) scored in double digits for the City Oilers.

City Oilers will take on the winner between UCU Canons and KCCA Panthers in the other Quarterfinals clash.
