JKL Lady Dolphins swept aside UPDF Lady Tomahawks with a commanding 77-55 victory in Game Two of the National Basketball League women’s playoffs quarterfinals on Sunday at Lugogo.
The defending champions, who had already secured a 79-52 win in Saturday’s Game One, sealed the best-of-three series 2-0 to storm into the semifinals.
Hope Akello starred for JKL with a dominant double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Evelyn Nakiyingi and Brenda Ekone chipped in with 13 and 11 points respectively.
For the Lady Tomahawks, Patricia Cate Nakirui managed 11 points, and Dorah Nakijoba fought hard on the boards with 10 rebounds, but their efforts could not prevent their season from coming to an end.
UPDF had little to cheer about, losing all four quarters 12-16, 10-21, 16-22, and 17-18, and struggled offensively as they missed 15 of their 16 attempts from beyond the arc.
The victory sets up a mouthwatering semifinal clash between JKL and UCU Lady Canons, as the Dolphins continue their pursuit of a third consecutive league crown.
