Equity bank promotes investment at UNAA Convention

In an effort to strengthen ties with Ugandans living abroad, Equity Bank Uganda participated in the annual Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Convention held in New Orleans.
The gathering brought together members of the Ugandan diaspora, policymakers, and business leaders to explore opportunities for investment, networking, and community development.
As the bank prepares to open a representative office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its participation was a key milestone. The bank showcased its tailored diaspora banking services, which include diaspora accounts, investment opportunities, international remittances, and digital banking solutions designed to enhance financial connectivity between Ugandans abroad and their homeland.
Winfred Wanjiru, Equity bank’s head of international banking, stated that the bank’s involvement was aimed at strengthening relationships with the wider Ugandan community in North America and beyond.
“Our participation is aimed at showcasing tailored financial solutions for Ugandans in the diaspora, while strengthening ties with the wider Ugandan community in North America and beyond,” she said.
Wanjiru emphasized the bank’s commitment to providing innovative services that enable the diaspora to invest back home and remain connected with their families. At their convention booth, Equity bank staff engaged attendees through interactive sessions, offering guidance on cross-border transfers, investment avenues, and digital banking tools.
“Our goal is not just to provide banking solutions but to foster a stronger connection between Ugandans at home and abroad,” Wanjiru remarked.
“We believe the diaspora is an important player in Uganda’s economic growth and are committed to supporting their financial and investment needs.”
Through these efforts, the bank aims to promote economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, helping Ugandans abroad contribute to their country’s development while keeping their financial ties strong.
