CAF CL: Vipers Learn Next Round Opponents

Uganda’s continental representatives Vipers will face Zambia’s Power Dynamos in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
To reach this stage, Vipers ousted African Stars 2-0 on aggregate, winning away from home, and at Kitende with similar 1-0 margins.
Next months’ two-legged affair will be crucial to determine who makes it to the next round of the continental competition.
The Venoms will host the first leg at Kitende on October 17, before travelling for the away match in Zambia on 24th the same month.
The winner between the two will qualify to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
How Power Dynamos Got Here
Power Dynamos eliminated ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast to set up a date with Vipers. The Zambian side won 5-4 on spot kicks, following thrilling two-legged tie that ended 1-1 on aggregate.
Power Dynamos had won 1-0 in the first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, thanks to Innocent Kashita’s lone goal that day.
In the second leg played in Abidjan, ASEC Mimosas leveled the aggregate score with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a Fofana 53rd-minute goal.
The intense match saw two red cards for ASEC’s Seydou Lamine Sacko and Power’s Dominic Chanda.
The tie was ultimately decided in a nail-biting penalty shootout, where Lawrence Mulenga was the match hero, saving Romaric Amoussou’s penalty to send Power Dynamos into a frenzy.
