Walukuba Barbarians breach Heathens’ frontline to win Kyabazinga 7s

The Kyabazinga 7s have served all flavours of Rugby. From the Rhinos failing to proceed from the group stages to the Black Pearls not making it to the medal bracket, it has indeed been hot and cold.
The defending champions, the Avengers and the Heathens, seemed to be enemies of themselves when they lost games they had in their grip, leaving a gap for the Nile Rapids and the Walukuba Barbarians to thrive.
That Walukuba Barbarians and Nile Rapids wins meant that for the first time, the National 7s series welcomed a repeat winner, after the first 4 circuits going to 4 different clubs for the men and women.
For the men, the Rhinos finishing out of the Top 8 and the Buffaloes not making it to the semifinals means that the Barbarians can see the light at the end of the tunnel. For the women, a final finish for the Thunderbirds leaves them as favourites to win this year’s National 7s series.
With the rest weekend coming up ahead, all the teams will have to go back to the drawing board. Questions to be answered? Consistency, squad depth and preparation.
