Vipers SC Seek to Finish the Job Against African Stars

Vipers SC targets progression this Saturday with everything on the line as they host Namibia’s African Stars FC in the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The Ugandan champions travelled back home carrying a slim yet priceless 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Cape Town, where defender Hilary ‘Bihogo’ Mukundane struck early before leading a disciplined defensive display to keep the Namibian champions at bay.

Now under the floodlights in Kitende, even a draw is enoigh for the Venoms to reach the second preliminary round of Africa’s premier club competition.

It will also be the first time new coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert takes charge in front of the home crowd, and he has urged his side to remain sharp and fearless.

“We expect a full house at Kitende and we know the fans will push us across the finish line. But 1-0 is not a big advantage. We must stay focused, be offensive, and work more together.”

Should they advance, the Venoms will set up a mouthwatering tie against either Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas or Zambian champions Power Dynamos in the next round.
