Rwenzururu launches inaugural Omüsïnga Birthday Run launched

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu cultural institution has launched the inaugural Omüsïnga Birthday Run, set for November 14, 2025.

The event is dedicated to raising funds for the establishment of a kingdom radio station, a one-stop cultural tourism village, and other projects under the kingdom’s strategic development plan.

Speaking at the launch on Friday, kingdom prime minister Baritazale Kule Benson unveiled the official running kits and called on all subjects, both at home and abroad, to rally behind the cause.

He emphasized that the proposed radio station will not only serve as a platform for timely communication from King Charles Wesley Mumbere but also play a vital role in safeguarding the culture, norms, and language of the Rwenzururu people.

The run is part of activities lined up to commemorate the 59th coronation anniversary of Omüsïnga Mumbere. Other planned events include a memorial mass for the first Omüsïnga, Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga I, a cultural gala, cultural promotion day, and royal queen’s day.

Organizers revealed that the race will feature 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km categories, with Mumbere himself awarding medals to the top three male and female finishers in each race.
